1st Aerial Battalion is announcing release of THE STATUTES OF THE 1st AERIAL BATTALION!

Pilots of the AB1 voted for introduction of statutes which will describe mainly structure and work of the Headquarters and new ranking system. The Statutes contain the Code of Honour, which is the most important part of the Statutes, then structure and description of duties of the Headquarters, based on democratic elections, held twice a year. This system gives everyone the opportunity to be member of the command.

Further the Statutes introduce a new rule that says that "During change of game platform, ranks of all members of the AB1 must be lowered to Cadet." Therefore, ranks of all pilots of the AB1 are now lowered to cadet and each individual has now pass the examinations (described below) in order to receive an appropriate rank. The new ranking system is based on exams held once a month during which a pilot must perform several tasks in order to be promoted in rank. Another completely new rule is saying that functions in the HQ are completely independent on rank.

At the moment members of the AB1 nominate pilots to a temporary HQ, results of the elections will be announced in the upcoming release of the London Gazette.

For all readers, the complete statutes are available here. (Or on page Structure)

Because of leave of a senior member, administrator of the training field for cadets, the AB1 had to find a place for training of their new members. The place was offered by pilots DKE and West from a friendly squadron operating nearby, the SPA 124 dite l’Escadrille Jeanne d’Arc. The 1st Aerial Battalion highly appreciate their offer and will be very glad to accommodate on the French airfield.

HIS MAJESTY THE KING is gracious pleased to approve of the following commendations in the Army and Navy:

DISTINGUISHED SERVICE ORDER

SPA•124 DKE

SPA•124 West

DKE and West receive the D.S.O. for their great help they offered to the 1st Aerial Battalion as is written above. Their generosity prevented the AB1 from many issues that would raise without the DKE's and West's act. The AB1 thanks you, gentlemen!

Cadet Richard

Cadet Vasek

Richard and Vasek wrote down the whole Statutes with assistance of the pilots of the AB1, did a lot of work in the background of the squadron and the time they spent with it is a reason for a D.S.O.

HIS MAJESTY THE KING is gracious pleased to approve of the following appointment in the Navy:

Warrant Officer Filip, 1st Aerial Battalion, to be appointed to rank of Flight Sub-Lieutenant.

The KING has graciously conferred the undermentioned Reward on an Officer of the Allied Air Service, in recognition of gallantry in Operations against the Enemy:

DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS

Flight Lieutenant Salak

It has been decided to award this military decoration to a skilled, rock solid pilot, who has became an essential part of the 1st Aerial Battalion. Salak significantly contributes to growth of the squadron, mainly by a high-quality fighter training provided to Cadets of the RNAS and exploring new strategies of aerial combat. Despite his serious disease Salak bravely participated several aerial operations* with one enemy fighter downed and it confirmed a decision to award him by the D.F.C.

MENTIONED IN DISPATCHES

Flight Sub-Lieutenant Richard

Richard has also became an essential part of the 1st RNAS Squadron, you can meet him on the airfield almost every day, on the ground with mechanics or in the air bravely patrolling above the dangerous no man's land.
On November 30th Flight Sub-Lieutenant Richard as a flight leader in cooperation with Squadron Commander Vasek performed the first bomber attack in formation from altitude of 5000ft in the history of the AB1 on a German factory. Richard is on his way to become a bomber flight leader of the 1st Aerial Battalion.

* Flaming Eagles Online War - 1st Aerial Battalion participated the first mission of this new kind of historically-based tournament, completing their primary missions and downing two enemy airplanes. Way to go AB1!

Squadron Commander Vasek, 1st Aerial Battalion, RNAS (additionally confirmed)

Flight Commander Cameljock, 1st Aerial Battalion, RNAS (additionally confirmed)

Flight Sub-Lieutenant Richard, 1st Aerial Battalion, RNAS (dated 31st October)

For destruction of several strategically important ground targets, including a factory at Pagny-sur-Moselle and a camp north from Thiaucourt during the last campaign*.

Warrant Officer Filip, 1st Aerial Battalion, RNAS (dated 31st October)

FIGHTER PILOT'S BADGE (FAR)

Flight Lieutenant Leon, 1st Aerial Battalion, RNAS

During last campaigns Leon persuaded the HQ of his dedication towards the squadron by accomplishing numerous aerial missions finished by a safe landing at the home base and therefore deserves this badge. Owner of this medal is a skilled fighter pilot prepared for air raids far above the enemy territory.

The command tent of the 1st Aerial Battalion RFC/RNAS again decided to show up. They sent out photographs from an every-year already traditional event ROLL CALL, whose task was to promote the squadron over the Western front in a fabulous style - a flight deep into the enemy territory in such formation which frightens the German aviators! This action was also an unique opportunity to celebrate 50th birthday of previous Squadron Commander now Recruiting Officer and leader of the Beaver Bombers Cameljock!

* Battle of St. Mihiel - 1st Aerial Battalion, The Long Muffetees and 310th Aero were transferred to area of Toul to face German squadrons in next several days. Their task was destruction of strategically important ground targets between Varinay - Pagny-Sur-Moselle and defence of the friendly territory. The mentioned squadrons fought very bravely, despite big loses accomplished almost all of their missions. There was no winner in this campaign as loses of each side were quite equal.

** Friendly match against Jagdstaffel 99 - In Mid-October AB1/SPA124/1.PL were invited to a friendly match by Jasta 99. Due to an apparent absence of pilots from the 1st Aerial Battalion, 1.PL was the main power that faced skilled German fighters and bomber pilots. This mission was not successful for our side, it was caused by bad weather and very bad technical state of our aircraft, delivered by Sopwith and R.A.F.

1st Aerial Battalion is introducing its first set of camouflages for fighter aerocraft, type S.E.Va and Nieuport N.17 in blue and yellow versions.
